Meet your Guide

Hi, I am Wesley Nyazule and I have lived by the mountain my entire life. I started as a porter and then became a fully qualified Guide.

I am involved in reforestation projects on the mountain and and passionate about sharing the wonderful landscapes and flora and fauna of this amazing wild space.

I am married and have children and i support my family and community by guiding on the mountain. I am proud that my father was one of the first official Mulanje Mountain Guides and I am happy to be carrying on this family tradition.

My Accreditation

There are many people working on the mountain, not all are qualified Guides. We have to go through an in depth process, often taking many years, before we are fully certified.

I am proud of managing to achieve these qualifications and have provided links to my identity documents and paperwork below so that you can be sure you are trekking with the real deal.

Our Team

I work on the mountain with a variety of friends, family and neighbours all of whom are familiar with the mountain. My team includes experienced cooks, trainee guides and reliable porters, all of whom have been living next to the mountain for their whole lives.

How we give back to our community

Play a part in helping shape the tomorrows for the children from our community.

From supplying a daily breakfast at our nursery schools to building pit latrines and planting trees - whatever the community needs Mulanje Guides tries to listen and to use some of the money we get from guiding to help make our community a better place for the next generation. Booking with us means some of your hard earned cash will end up being spent on community projects. Ask us what we are working on, and if you book with us we can take you to see some of the projects and understand the impact tourism can have in Malawi.
